Patricia Putnam

Patricia Putnam, age 94, of Bloomington and formerly of Granite Falls, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at her home at Hayden Grove Assisted Living in Bloomington.
Patricia Colleen Putnam (Watt) was born on July 23, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of John R. and Emma (Gee) Watt. Her father served in the military which caused Patricia to attend school in many different states. She graduated from South High in Minneapolis and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota. After graduation she took a job as a social worker for Yellow Medicine County and began her life in Granite Falls. She met David Putnam almost immediately when she stopped at the Granite Falls Tribune for directions to her job interview to become a social worker. Patricia and David were married in 1950 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, MN. After moving so often as a young girl, she loved small town life in Granite Falls. Pat and David had three children, Colleen, David John and Joseph.
Pat and David made their home in Granite Falls where David was the publisher of the Granite Falls Tribune. They enjoyed summers at Green Lake in Spicer, MN and winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Patricia moved to Eden Prairie in 2004 to be closer to family. Patricia was the world’s proudest and best grandmother. She enjoyed her family and especially hosting holidays and family visits at her home in Granite Falls. She was especially close to her grandchildren and had a bond of love with each of them.
While living in Granite Falls, Pat was active in the community. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, delivering Dinner at your Door, meeting with her Circle of Stones group from her church, and helping wherever she could. Pat enjoyed getting together with friends and neighbors, playing bridge, cross country skiing and many other social activities. She had a group of life-long girlfriends from high school and college known as the Jodelkas. These friends met regularly for lunch, took trips, and stayed in close touch all their lives. Pat enjoyed travel and visited Europe and Alaska. When David was living, they took annual hunting trips to Wyoming and enjoyed traveling. She was always ready for an adventure.
Patricia is survived by her children, Colleen (Bob) Petroff of Bloomington, Joseph Putnam of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Katie Petroff, Emily Petroff, David (Lauren) Putnam, Samuel Putnam, Thea Putnam; and many relatives and friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, David, son David John, parents, John R. and Emma Watt, and brother, John Gee Watt (Jeanne).
