Orpha Werner

Orpha Rebecca Werner was born March 14, 1923 in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota the daughter of Jacob and Olive (Quam) Volstad. She passed away October 25, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Dell Lutheran Church and grew up in the Sioux Agency Township area.
On June 9, 1940 she was united in marriage to Ralph Werner at Rock Valle Lutheran Church. To this union, seven children were born.
Orpha was a devoted wife and loving mother, caring for the children and their farm home. She later worked at Carl’s Bakery and S&L Department Store in Granite Falls.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and sewing. Orpha was also known for baking fresh bread for her family every Thursday on her day off.
Orpha is survived by her children: Rebecca (Jim) Jensen of Sacred Heart, Virginia (Henry) Olson of Granite Falls, Carlton (Kathy) Werner of Phoenix, Arizona, Marvin (Kristi) Werner of Alexandria, Bruce (Beverly) Werner of Phoenix, Arizona, Robbin (Doug) Bendel of Granite Falls, and Brian Werner of Granite Falls; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Werner, parents: Jacob and Olive Volstad; grandson: Taylor Werner; great granddaughter: Kailey Olson; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
