Orpha Ann Nordang was born January 17, 1925, in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, the daughter of Ludwig and Elisa (Iverson) Hogsven. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Rock Valle Lutheran Church rural Echo. She attended country school and graduated from the Echo High School in 1943. In later years she studied to become a Registered Dental Assistant through the Canby Vocational Technical College. She was employed as a dental assistant for 20 years.
On September 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clarence Nordang at Granite Falls. To this union three children were born. They lived and raised their family in Granite Falls.
She was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Granite Lutheran Quilters, Guardian Angel Program and many other church activities. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Degree of Honor and Granite Manor Auxiliary.
Orpha passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Elim Home in Princeton. She was 91 years of age.
She is survived by her children: Donna (Joan Pilot) of St. Cloud; Karen (Michael) Metcalf of Princeton and Doug (Linda) Nordang of Clear Lake; six grandchildren: Tamara (Charlie) Hobbs; Emily (Erik) Moore; Mary (Joe) Kondrak; Katherine (Paul) Maslanka; Peter (fiancé Andrea Koshiol) Nordang and Marit Nordang; four great grandchildren: Sadie and Henry Moore and Adrian and Maryam Hobbs; sister Clara Hogsven of Granite Falls; sister-in-law Bev Nordang; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; six siblings: Hilma Fossan; Inga Wagner; Sam Hogsven; Emma Timm; Leonard Hogsven and Bernell Kirschbaum; three nephews and one niece.
Orpha dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed all family gatherings. She was very proud of them all.
