Norma Edna Nordby was born on August 6, 1919 in Montevideo, MN to Edward and Minnie Weckwerth. She died at the age of 97 years on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in Luther Haven Nursing Home.
Norma was a warm and open person who welcomed many people into her life. From her work at Luther Haven helping staff support other residents in their efforts to deal with Parkinson’s disease back to her work at Nordby Transfer. There she was a ‘gal Friday’ who did everything from office work and bill collecting to delivering small shipments. She gave her creative side an outlet by participating in a ceramics program and filling her house with masterpieces.
Entertaining friends, neighbors and others by providing them with a scrumptious home cooked meal was Norma’s favorite thing. Many remember the great food and hospitality they enjoyed in her home.
Finally, in her role as a homemaker, Norma created a comfortable home where all who came there were made welcome. She was known by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Cherishing her memories are her son: David and his wife Sally of St. Anthony Village and daughter Jean of Edina; grandchildren: Jody and her husband Bill Depaemelaere and their children Ivy Depaemelaere and Luke and Lane Foley, Matt and his wife Tami Danielson and their children Kim, Jake, Rik and Walker, Betsy and her husband Tim Buffington and their children Zak and Anne, Jill Hallonquist and her son Ben, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
