Myrtle Hemmingson

October 25, 1916 — September 19, 2010

Myrtle Amanda Hemmingson was born October 25, 1916, the daughter of August & Anne Marie Anundson, in Tyro Township. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Stony Run Country School. Myrtle was united in marriage to Alfred Hemmingson on November 9, 1935, in Hazel Run, Minnesota. She worked at Ben Franklin during the holidays. She was active with church serving on the Altar Guild and the Women's Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge, canning, cooking and made the best homemade doughnuts and apple pies. Myrtle passed away peacefully with Donna by her side on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at the Granite Falls Manor. She was 93 years of age. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Donna Hemmingson of Granite Falls; son-in-law Harold Leyse of Maple Grove; 5 grandchildren: Todd (Jerri Lynn) Leyse of Maple Grove; Andrea (Jason) Guy of Maple Grove; Brian (Shannon) Hemmingson of McMurray, Pennsylvania; Jen Hemmingson of Northfield, Massachusetts, and Carrie Hemmingson of Portland, Oregon; eight great grandchildren: Trent Ward (16), Nolan Leyse (14), Madison Leyse (12), Ethan Guy (9), Jacob Hemmingson (7), Kellen Guy (6), Sheridan Leyse (5) and Eli Hemmingson (4); two sisters: Thea Kraakaas and Adeline Just both of Granite Falls; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999, two infant sons: Gary & Charles, son Curtis in 2001, daughter Janice Leyse in 2009 and granddaughter Sara Leyse.
