Myron was born on June 29, 1934 to Raphie and Myra Hanson in Parshall, ND where he was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. He grew up in Benson, MN, helping farm his parent's land. Myron started his long career as a meat cutter at the age of 16, working part-time for the Benson Red Owl. He was a wrestler at Benson High School where he graduated in 1952. The day after graduation he went to work for Red Owl in Mankato. At the age of 18, he managed the Red Owl in Slayton, MN when he met his wife to be. He was the youngest manager they had ever hired. On December 10, 1955, Myron was united in marriage to Elva Ilseat at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone, MN. He transferred to St. Peter, MN where they made their first home together. In 1958, he transferred to the Montevideo Red Owl. In 1962, he left Red Owl and went on the road as a salesman with Christman Sausage. In 1969, he purchased Hanson's Sanitary Meat Market which he owned and operated for 36 years until he retired in 2005. Myron and Elva were blessed with four children and 55 years of marriage. Over the years his wife and each of his children worked along-side him at the family market. His unmatched beef sticks, beef jerky, original BBQ sauce, and ribs are dearly missed and fondly remembered by all! In addition to meat cutting, Myron painted houses on the side for over 20 years. After retiring from the meat market, he continued to paint until he fell ill last spring. Myron was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He was also a member of the Eagles Club for many years. Myron and Elva, with the help of good friends, started the Montevideo Eagles Clown Club. For several years they clowned in parades all over southern Minnesota, raising money to build an Eagles Club in Montevideo. Myron enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and playing Buck, especially with his family. He was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and loved to watch the games'if they were winning! Myron loved music and was a great dancer. He and Elva spent many happy years going to hear their children's bands play at local clubs with friends and ?tearing up the dance floor?. Above all, Myron loved to spend time with family and friends and will forever be remembered for his jokes and witty sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and he was good at it!Myron died Monday, October 17th at his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Elva Hanson of Montevideo; four children: Patricia Larson of Montevideo, Randall Hanson of Montevideo, Daniel (Kimberly) Hanson of Chaska, Angela (Bryan) Shores of Kerkhoven; twelve grandchildren, Marisa (Timothy) Buseman, Adam (Alesha) Ryer, Ashly Larson, Casondra Hanson, Arrael Hanson, Brianna Hanson, Lilyana Hanson, Cooper Hanson, Kayleigh Shores, Teresa Shores, Amanda Shores, Cierra Shores; and three great-grandchildren: Autumn Buseman, Aiden Ryer, Adeline Ryer. He is also survived by his two brothers: Derald (Harriet) Hanson of Glenwood, Caren (Sandra) Hanson of Benson; and a brother-in-law: Dewayne Johnson of Woonsocket, SD. as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hanson; his infant child; his parents; his grandson, Jordan Larson; and his sister, Ardis Johnson.
