Millie Lee

Mildred Geneva Â?MillieÂ? Lee was born on January 19, 1930, in Westby, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Augusta (Johnson) Larson. She was baptized on June 13, 1945 at the First Lutheran Church in Renville and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 17, 1945 at the same church. Millie proudly graduated as salutatorian of Renville High School Class of 1948. As a young woman, she was employed as a telephone operator. Millie attended the University of Minnesota, General Hospital Nursing Classes and then took nursing classes at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. On December 18, 1949, Millie was united in marriage to L. Robert Lee at the First Lutheran Church in Renville. She assisted Robert in their farming operation, took care of the family homemaking needs and also enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing many pints and quarts of produce every year. She also liked to bake bread, cakes, cookies and her variety of delicious pies. When they moved to town, Millie worked as a nurseÂ?s aide at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital until her retirement in 2000. Millie was a devoted member of Our SaviorÂ?s Lutheran Church in Montevideo where she participated in WELCA and church circles of both Our SaviorÂ?s and Jevnaker Lutheran in rural Montevideo, assisted in serving funeral luncheons and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the HomemakerÂ?s Club, the Montevideo Hospital Auxiliary and was a 4-H leader. Millie also kept active in supporting Lutheran Missions, making quilts for her family, reading, sewing, flower gardening and spending time with her family. On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, Millie was called peacefully from this life at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital. She was 83 years of age. Surviving family includes her husband L. Robert Lee of Montevideo; sons- David (& Karen) Lee of Willmar and Duane (& Jan) Lee of Dearborn, MI; daughters- Carol Lee of Tenstrike, Barbara (& Rowland) Boike of Montevideo, and Audrey (& Roger) Ellefson of Dawson; grandchildren- Cary (& Dawn) Landstrom, Wendy Landstrom, Jonathan (& Jennifer) Lee, Benjamin Lee, Adam Lee, Eric (& Stacey) Boike, Nicole (& Brad) Knight, Michael (& Molly) Boike and Daniel (& Shawna Ochs) Lee; step grandchildren- Todd (& Beth) Townsend and Amanda (& Steven) Sulkey; great grandchildren- Cameron Landstrom, Brendan, Halle & Chance Landstrom, Mackenzie & Wyatt Lee, Alexa Lee, Kaden & Carson Boike, Maliha Knight, Ellie Boike and Cash Lee; step great grandchildren- David Townsend and Madison & Blake Sulkey; 2 brothers-in law: Merald Lee and Warren Meyers; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding her in death were her parents; her father & mother-in-law Alfred & Emma Lee; a grandson- Brady Landstrom; a half brother- Philip Flowers; sisters-in law Mary Flowers, Evelyn Meyers, Adeline Christenson & Evonne Lee and a brother-in law Archie Christenson.
