Mildred Laraby

June 2, 1916 — May 2, 2011

Mildred Laraby was born June 2, 1916, in Lier, Norway, the daughter of Kristoffer & Julia Hemsing. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1919. She received her education in Maynard, Minnesota.Mildred was united in marriage with James Laraby on June 12, 1934, in Chippewa County. Together they made their home in Granite Falls where Mildred enjoyed sewing, dancing and spending time with her family.Mildred moved to Battle Lake, where for the last two years she resided at the Good Samaritan Care. Mildred passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was 94 years of age. She is survived by her children: Janis Bresson of Battle Lake; Nancy Groves of Golden Valley; Elaine Westphal of Olivia; Steve Laraby and Chad Laraby both of Granite Falls; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Edman Laraby of Heron Lake; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Nelson Laraby, three brothers: Nels, Albert & Clarence Hemsing, one sister Gladys Noard, four children: Delores Jean Laraby, Ruby Marlene Kull; James Vernon Laraby and David Nelson Laraby, two sons-in law: DeWayne (Sonny) Bresson and Eugene Westphal, and a great grandchild Ethan Eugene Henderson.
