Marlyn "Mickey" Ostendorf was born August 9, 1939, on the family farm in Lone Tree Township, Chippewa County, the son of Harm & Martha Ostendorf. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church. Mickey graduated from the Clara City High School in 1958. He farmed in Lone Tree Township his entire life. He worked for the Clara City Creamery for a time before beginning a career in road construction, retiring from Hardrives Construction in 2011 at the age of 72 years. He was a member of the Christian Labor Union and also the Forty Niner's Labor Union. Mickey enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He also spent time at auctions and visiting with friends.Mickey passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Rice Memorial Hospital, following a farm accident.He is survived by his children: John Ostendorf of Raymond; Bev (Bill) Olson of Montevideo; Gary Ostendorf of Montevideo; Susan (Bob) Stevens of Hazel Run; Kristi (Brad) Runyon of Champlin and Angie (Dale) Thompson of Cloquet; grandchildren: Derek, Danielle, Ryan, Trista, Gena, Luke, Leah, Cameron, Adam, Tanner, Jerod, Jordan, Tyler, Breanna and Ashley; great grandchildren: Hunter, Brooklyn, Chase, Braden and Landen; siblings: Ervin (Marian) Ostendorf of St. Louis Park; Virgil Ostendorf of Edinboro, PA; Evelyn Bourne of Montevideo; Roger (Donna) Ostendorf of Atwater and Marlene (Roy) Christianson of Blomkest; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
