Michael Sather, 66, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Friday, January 14th at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Arrangements are pending at this time.
Michael Steven Sather was born February 27, 1955, in Montevideo, the son of Harry and Viola (Swenson) Sather. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He attended school in Montevideo graduating with the class of 1973.
Michael served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fr. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Ft. Bliss, Texas, Ft. Hood, Texas and two tours in Germany. He was honorably discharged in April of 1979. Michael attended Red Wing Vo-Tech and started driving over the road in 1979, for Arlin Curtiss Trucking. Later he moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and drove for Lloyd Bultsma Trucking.
On July 27, 1990, Michael was united in marriage to Becky Anspach at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, football, bowling, riding his Harley Trike, playing cards and being with family and friends. He loved playing Santa Claus for his grandkids. He always said he loved his job, because the view of the job changed with meeting new friends. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E, American Legion Post 15 in Sioux Falls and a lifetime member of OOIDA in Grain Valley, Missouri.
Michael passed away on January 14, 2022, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was 66 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Becky of Sioux Falls, SD; children: Amanda Sather Armour, Cody Sather, Danielle Sather Williams, step children: Elizabeth Enstad and James Enstad; grandchildren: Lea Armour, Robert Armour, Reagan Sather, step grandchildren: Kali Enstad, Emma Enstad, Drew Enstad and Luke Wimmer; brothers: Ronald (Norma) Sather of Montevideo and Mark (Sue) Sather of Montevideo, several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter and his brothers Kevin and Donald.
