Melvin Robert Â?BobÂ? Johnson was born May 10, 1934 in Aberdeen, South Dakota the son of Melvin and Uleta Johnson. He passed away Veterans Day, Sunday November 11, 2012 in Granite Falls at the Granite Manor. Bob grew up and attended school in Aberdeen graduating from Aberdeen High School. He served his country in the United States Army. During his active duty, he was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Aberdeen, enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard and began employment as a cook at the State School in Redfield. Bob was united in marriage to Gayanna Theil in Mellette. To this union two children were born. He later married Lynn Burdick and began working as a maintenance man at Ipswich Nursing Home and Aberdeen Adjustment Training Center. After moving to Michigan, he worked as a car factory security guard. After his retirement, Bob moved to Sacred Heart where he lived with his daughter Dawn until moving to the nursing home in Granite Falls. He was a big sports fan and enjoyed supporting the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Tigers. Bob is survived by his children, Dawn (Joe) Huelsman of Sacred Heart; David (Cherise) Johnson of Aberdeen; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters: Susan (Jerry) Miller and Judy (Walt) Svboda both of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Uleta
