Mavis Bluhm, 82, of Clara City, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Clara City Care Center. Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 13th at 1:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Mavis Joan Bluhm was born March 17, 1942, the daughter of Simon & Treintje Zimmer, at the Montevideo Hospital. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Raymond and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Mavis graduated from Raymond High School in 1960. Following graduation she worked for Sears in Willmar.
On April 7, 1961, Mavis was united in marriage to Walter Bluhm at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. To this union, two children, Myron John and Carla Ann were born. They lived north of Clara City where they farmed in Louriston Township. Mavis enjoyed farm life and all it had to offer. From being in the fields, having a large garden and raising chickens. She was very active at Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, different circles and helping out wherever she could. After the children graduated, she worked for Thoma Oil and Herbergers. They enjoyed spending time in their RV by the lake in the Summer and in Texas in the Winter.
She is survived by her son, Myron Bluhm of Clara City; son-in-law, Tim Bond of Evansville; grandchildren, Casey (Jessica) Bluhm, Christina (Matt) Mittag, Dustin Bluhm, Derek (Amanda) Bluhm; great grandchildren, Aubree, Kinze, Caisyn, Maliya, Adylie, Skylynn, Teagan, Taelynn; brother Elvis Zimmer of Bloomington; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mavis is preceded in death by parents, Simon & Treintje Zimmer, husband Walter and daughter, Carla Ann.
