Mary K. Rothers was born in Appleton, Minnesota on December 26, 1957, the daughter of Charles and Zelda Goggin. She grew up in Appleton where she attended the Appleton High School. She then married Werner Nurmi and moved to Benson. Together they had four children: Stephanie, David, Kyle and Sean. On December 17, 1992, she married Michael Rothers. Together they lived in Willmar. They moved to Clara City where their youngest Andrew attended school. Mary and Mike returned to Willmar in January of 2010, where Mary was the manager at Valleyside Townhomes. She was known to many at the townhomes as ?Mama Bear.? She showed many her kindness and empathy and many referred to her as ?Mom.? She was always a predominant figure in her children's lives, always freely giving words of wisdom and advice. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She adored and spoiled each of them. Her capacity to love was overwhelming. Mary passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She was 55 years of age. She is survived by her husband Mike; children: Stephanie (Scott) Olson of Spicer; David (Mindie) Nurmi of Clara City; Kyle (Amy) Nurmi of Willmar; Sean (Andrea) Nurmi of Maynard; Andrew Rothers of Willmar; grandchildren: Hannah and Jacob Nurmi, Meghan and Nicholas McKenzie, Tanner Olson; Ainsley, Addison and Averie Nurmi, Lexi and Zayden Nurmi; sisters: Anne (David) Wittenberg; Julie (Dan) Dibble; brothers: Charles (Barb) Goggin and Michael Goggin; sister-in-law Karen Rothers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Zelda Goggin, mother-in-law Leona Rothers, brother-in-law Larry Rothers, and one grandchild.
