Marilyn Augusta Baumann was born on November 18, 1932, on the family farm near Wilmont, MN to John and Christina Kobbermann. She was baptized at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Wilmont and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Marilyn attended school in Fulda, MN. Her family moved to Benson where she graduated from Benson High School in 1950. Marilyn was united in marriage to Bernard Baumann on July 28, 1951 in Benson. They were blessed with 60 years together. After marriage they lived in Benson and Fort Rucker, AL while Bernard was in the military, Lamberton, MN for a short time, Clara City and Montevideo. Due to their failing health in 2008 she became a resident of Luther Haven in Montevideo. In 2010 she moved to a memory care unit at the Golden Living Center in Olivia. Upon the death of her husband in 2011 she moved to Valley View Manor in Lamberton to be closer to family. Marilyn worked at the Yock and Meyer Variety Supply Store in Clara City and Howard's Shoe Store in Montevideo. She dedicated her life to her husband and children. Marilyn was an active member of St Joseph's Catholic Church and CCW in Montevideo. She enjoyed working in the kitchen for church events and assisted with decorating the church environment. She was an avid gardener known for sharing and canning the bountiful produce and the beautiful flowers, especially her roses. She was a terrific cook offering great hospitality to all visitors. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting blankets. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She waited for the times her grandchildren and great grandchildren would come spend "spoiling" time with her. Marilyn was released from the dementia that she suffered from on October 3, 2012 at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 79. Bernard and Marilyn were blessed with 5 children. Mary (Edward) Thomack of Radcliff, KY; Doreen (Russell) Kronback of Lamberton, Lois (Glen) Geihl of Cheyenne, WY; June Baumann (Denni Apfelbacher) of Milan, and Carl (Stacey) Baumann of Redfield, SD; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She is survived by 5 sisters, Catherine Paul, Marcella (Frank) Linn, Clara (Jim) Gannaway, Rita (Tom) Gorres, Anna Goulet and 2 brothers Albert (Carol) Kobbermann and Elmer (Terry) Kobberman and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard on December 13, 2011, her parents and her brother Cyril Kobbermann. Marilyn will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
