Marie Tammen

Marie Tammen was born October 10, 1922, the daughter of Nick & Lena (Smit) Heida, in Lone Tree Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota. She was baptized at the Dutch Reformed Church in Clara City and confirmed at United Methodist Church in Raymond. She attended school at the Raymond Public School. Marie worked at the Rice Memorial Hospital and the Clara City Care Center as a nurse’s aide.
She was united in marriage to William Tammen on December 18, 1945, at her parents’ home. She enjoyed playing piano, sewing, fishing, old time music, watching car races, playing cards, visiting, drinking coffee and dancing. Following their retirement, they enjoyed summers at Sun Valley Resort. Marie had many friends and acquaintances and enjoyed entertaining and hosting. She was always trying to “feed” everyone.
Marie passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the Clara City Care Center. She was 93 years of age.
She is survived by her children: Barb (Ronald) Andresen of Litchfield; Diane Borgendale of Montevideo and Steve (Tammy) Tammen of Clara City; grandchildren: Jason (Pam) Andresen of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; Shannon (Justin) Reiner of Litchfield; Laura Borgendale of Minneapolis; Anne Borgendale of Minneapolis; Kevin (Sarah) Borgendale of St. Louis Park; Colleen Borgendale of Minneapolis; Cory (Cassie) Tammen of Moorhead; & Justin Tammen (special friend Tiffany Hanen) of Clara City; great grandchildren: Jordan, Dylan & Quentin Reiner; Chase & Chloe Tammen; sisters: Gertrude Haats of Raymond & Jeannette Tebben of Clara City; brother Bert Heida of Raymond and sisters-in-law: Gertrude Heida of Raymond and Anna Heida of Everett, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister Lucy (Rence) Bents; brothers: Tony Heida, John Heida and Richard (Annette) Heida; son-in-law Jonathan Borgendale; in-laws: Albert Haats, Elizabeth Aeikens and Louis & Caroline Tammen.
