Marie Pamelia Daby Erie was born June 10, 1916, in Minnesota Falls Township. Marie was baptized and confirmed at the United Lutheran Church. She graduated from the Granite Falls High School. Marie was united in marriage to Alton J. Erie on January 26, 1938, in Clear Lake, South Dakota. She was a lifetime member of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and a Sunday School teacher for 15 years. Marie was also a member of the Ladies Aid since the merger of the two churches. She wrote a history of the Ladies Aid which was put into the cornerstone. She was also the historian of Rock Valle ELC for ten years, before the merger of the ALC. She liked to work with youth and served as a volunteer leader for twenty years with the Hazel Run Happy Hour 4-H Club. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and played the piano. She was a member of the Hazel Run Homemakers Garden Club for over 50 years. She is survived by her son James (& Barb) Erie of Redwood Falls; daughter Kathryn MacCormick of Richfield; five grandchildren: Mark Erie of Osakis, Steven Erie of Redwood Falls, Kristin (Scott) Smith of St. Paul Park, Scott Erie of Richfield and Michael (Jennifer) MacCormick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister Eloise Peterson of Richfield; and extended family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alton in 2003, three brothers: Virgil, Donald and Tillman; and one sister Ethel.
