Marian Harvey was born on the family farm near Maynard, MN, on February 25, 1921, the daughter of Emil and Emilie Nicolai. She was baptized and raised in the Methodist faith and graduated from Maynard High School in 1939. On February 25, 1945, she was united in marriage to Wesley Harvey. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Maynard in 1945. Marian was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, sewing & quilting. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marian was also an active and participating member of her church. She volunteered her time for numerous church activities and loved to teach Sunday school.In the late morning hours of Tuesday September 6, 2011, Marian was called peacefully from this life while a resident of the Clara City Care Center in Clara City, MN. She was 90 years of age. Surviving family include her children- Sandy Coates (& special friend Ray Jacobson) of Watson, MN, Jim Harvey of Willmar, MN, Sharon (& Leonard) Carpenter of New Hope, MN and Pamela (& Jon) Redetzke of Wood Lake, MN; daughter-in-law: Carol (the late John) Harvey of Alexandria; her 7 grandchildren- Lea (& Mike Haak), Dustin & Nathan Coates, Amanda (& Tom) Gustafson, Kyle Redetzke and Amelia & Shane Carpenter; 3 great grandchildren- Sean & Taylor Haak and Jemma Gustafson; one sister- Margaret Larsen of Montevideo, MN; one brother- Bill Nicolai of Roseville, MN and extended family. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband (in 1995); her son John; her daughter-in-law Vicki Harvey and 4 brothers- Walt, Johnnie, Morris & George.
