Margaret Teresa Thoma was born on December 5, 1931 in Springfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Hubert and Teresa Kotten. She grew up in Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. On April 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Henry Peter Thoma. To this union, they were blessed with 5 children. In addition to raising her family, Margaret worked at a canning factory, as a waitress, babysitter, at Warner Manufacturing in Sacred Heart and also in various roles at the Clara City Nursing Home. She also helped her husband Henry, attending to the many duties involved with St. Clara Catholic Church and School. She assisted many different priests and nuns at the parish office. As her children were growing up, she would sew for them and also for many people in the community who brought sewing projects to her. Margaret's house was always open for a cup of coffee and long chats for anyone who stopped by.On Sunday February 6th, Margaret died at the Rice Care Center in Willmar. She was 79. Cherishing her memory are her children: Terri (Carl) Rudolph of Richfield, Juli (Roger) Bohlsen of Shakopee, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Collins of Willmar, Sandra Thoma of Richfield, and Paul (Michelle) Thoma of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her sisters Angeline Pankratz of Marshall and Patricia Fesender Visser of Port Charlotte, Florida; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry in 2000, her parents Teresa and Hubert, sister Mary Ellen and her brothers Darryl and Eugene.
