Margaret Dybsand, age 100, of Granite Falls, passed away on October 28, 2021 at RenVilla Health Center in Renville, Minnesota
Margaret Olive (Pederson) Dybsand was born November 17, 1920, in rural Echo, Minnesota to Melvin P. and Olivia (Hustad) Pederson. She was baptized December 25, 1920, and confirmed October 19, 1934, both at Rock Valle Lutheran Church, rural Echo, Minnesota. Margaret attended country school in Yellow Medicine County and then set out for Minneapolis with a friend to seek her fortune. She was employed at Donaldson’s Department Store where she was entrusted to make deposits daily; a job for which she was very proud. She came home to Echo to care for her mother who had been diagnosed with cancer in 1944.
Margaret was united in marriage to Jerome Dybsand on September 15, 1946, at Rock Valle Lutheran Church. After their marriage, the couple farmed north of Echo until January of 1951, when they moved to a 240 acre farm between Granite Falls and Maynard. Margaret and Jerome called this place home for 52 years before moving to Renville in 2004.
Margaret was the typical farmer’s wife. When she wasn’t helping in the field, she was in the house cleaning, cooking, canning and baking. She spent time at Homemakers Club with the neighborhood women and Ladies Aid at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church where she made quilts and soap; or at Circle and Bible Study.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Michael) Johnson of Sacred Heart, Janet (Ron) Skjefte of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Marius (Heidi) Laursen of Mitchell, SD, Joseph (Anna) Johnson of Hanover, Amber Johnson of Sacred Heart, Tanya (Tom) Marr of Buffalo, Tracy (Jon) Berg of Shakopee; great grandchildren, Avery Laursen, Grayson Laursen, Miliana Johnson, Alayna Johnson, Tiah Marr, Tyler Marr, Turner Marr, McKenna Berg, Morgan Berg, Mayson Berg; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome; siblings, Adeline Pederson, Irvin (Agnes) Pederson, Carol (Gust) Schaffran, Arnold (Virginia) Pederson, James (Darlene) Pederson, Richard (Marion) Pederson, Melvin (Mary) Pederson Jr., Beverly Pederson; brothers-in-law, Sheldon Dybsand, Alton (Ardie) Dybsand.
