Mardell Elaine Rand was born to Herman & Rosella (Grove) Becker on October 25, 1941, in Clara City. She was baptized on November 30, 1941, and confirmed on April 3, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. She moved with her family in 1955 to a farm northwest of Sacred Heart. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1959. She worked as secretary at Granite Falls Public Schools for almost two years. Mardell was united in marriage to Dwayne Rand on February 18, 1961, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. They lived on a farm north of Sacred Heart until moving to Renville in 1966. When Curtis began school in 1968, she went to work at the Renville School as elementary secretary. She worked in various capacities of secretary in Renville and Sacred Heart covering K ? 12, until retiring in 2002. Mardell enjoyed her work with students and teachers and hoped she made a difference in their lives. She was also a Tupperware representative and loved all the people she met for many years. After retiring she worked at the Economart Grocery Store in Granite Falls for eight years. She was a Sunday school teacher at First Lutheran in Renville and Our Savior's in Sacred Heart for 25 years plus. She loved singing and participated in choirs and small groups whenever the opportunity was there in Renville, Sacred Heart, Granite Falls Lutheran and Willmar Community Chorus. She served on various committees and church council. Mardell enjoyed sewing, reading and being with friends and family. Mardell is survived by two sons: Curtis (Jill) and Allan (Tasha); six grandchildren: Dalton, Devan Ann, Savannah, Hannah, Brienna & Jayden; great grandson Ethan; two sisters: Marilynn (Myron) Partington and Cheryl (Don) Knutson; good friends Kristin Clark and Danelle Rand; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dwayne.
