Mae Doraine Anderson was born April 14, 1930 in Sacred Heart the daughter of Knute William and Ovidia (Fagerlie) Rude. She passed away March 2, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
She attended school in Sacred Heart, graduating in 1948. Following her graduation she completed nurses training in Montevideo and worked at the Granite Falls Hospital as a nursing assistant.
Mae was united in marriage to Gordon Midthun on November 19th, 1950. They moved to Red Wing in 1957 and lived there until Gordon passed away unexpectedly following a surgery in 1959. Mae moved back to Granite Falls.
On October 19, 1960 she was united in marriage to Verne Anderson. They made their home in Granite Falls. Mae did day care and later managed the Central Discount Store. She then worked at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital until her retirement. Mae was active with WELCA, sewing club, altar guild, and the Legion Auxiliary.
She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all of the MN teams, with a special love for the local Sting Softball Girls. Mae was an avid bowler participating at the State and National level. She was inducted into the Granite Falls Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008 after 50 years of bowling and continued to bowl for several more years. She had many pen pals over the years and she also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
Mae is survived by her children: Steve Midthun (Sue), Sue Nelson (Bryan), Tom Midthun (Char), Mark Anderson, Mary Rice (John), and David Anderson (fiancé Dawn). Grandchildren: Jon Nelson (Anne), Krista Okins (Tom), Angie Midthun (Trevor), Jenny Midthun (Kyle), Michael Midthun, Amy Midthun, Matt Rice, Robert Rice, Carrie Rodriguez (Juan), Jagger Anderson, and Keaton Anderson. Great-Grandchildren: Kolten, Kalan, Reese, Ben, Zachary, Carter, Austin, Elexis, Madison, McCailey, and Caelyn. Siblings: Bernice Anderson, Kenneth Rude (June), and Wesley Rude.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Knute William and Ovidia; husband Gordon in 1959, husband Verne in 2015; siblings Werdin Rude and Harris Rude.
