Madolin Anderson

November 26, 1918 — February 28, 2012

Madolin Zillah Anderson was born November 26, 1918, in Rosalie, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred & Norah Ernston. She was raised in Granite Falls, received her education and graduated with her high school class. Madolin and Alvin O. Anderson were married on February 17, 1940, at the Congregational Church in Granite Falls. They made their home on Al's family farm in Stony Run Township. Madolin was active with the Ladies Aid at Camp Release Lutheran Church, Stony Run Lutheran Church and later the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included crafting, gardening and quilting. Not only did she make many quilts for her children and grandchildren, she sewed several quilt tops for Granite Falls Lutheran Church. For a short time, she worked with a group of local women in a hometown antique store in downtown Granite Falls. Madolin and Al spent most of their married life on the farm in Stony Run. They moved to Granite Falls in November of 2004. Al passed away in January of 2007. Madolin moved to Home Front in Montevideo in September of 2009. She loved her family and especially enjoyed having family and friends visit. Madolin passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Home Front with her daughter Mary by her side. She was 93 years of age. She is survived by her children: Mary (Bob) Quackenbush of Bloomington; Doug (Loretta) Anderson of Leominister, Massachusetts; and David (Lynn) Anderson of Lake Oswego, Oregon; six grandchildren: Nicholas, Ted, Deidre, Doreen, Shauna & Sheila; seven great grandchildren: Amanda, Courtney, Zachary, Todd, Stephanie, Adam & Megan; sister-in-law Jeanette Anderson of Alexandria and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Al.
