Lynn Johnson

Lynn Johnson, age 77, of Granite Falls, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Avera Hospital in Marshall, Minnesota. Memorial services will be held at Granite Falls Lutheran Church in Granite Falls on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM, interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lynn Erland Johnson was born on February 9, 1944, in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of Erland and Nina (Kvam) Johnson. Lynn was baptized and confirmed at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He attended and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1962.
Lynn starting working as a very young man at various places, mostly driving truck for farmers, cattlemen and beer distributors. He married Karen Skrukrud on July 31, 1965. The couple were blessed with three girls, Nicole, Ann and Holly. Lynn enlisted in the United States National Guard and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for basic training and later transferred to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. The couple moved back to southern Minnesota where Lynn started his lifelong career with Midland Cooperative in the LP gas department. Though the company merged and changed names through the years to Land O’ Lakes and most recently Cenex, Lynn stayed with the company and was promoted many times and retired in the mid 1990’s as regional manager.
After retiring, Lynn’s focus moved back to farming, which he really enjoyed and he started working for the Hanley Falls Elevator and also helped on Buesing Farms. He loved all things mechanical. At one time Lynn had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. He also loved trains, trucks and restoring antique tractors. Lynn could fix anything. He would spend hours in his beloved farm shop just tinkering or organizing his tools and making labels on everything. Lynn loved cruising around on his motorcycle with his Harley Davidson friends. He was a born leader which was evident in not only his career but also keenly felt by his family who leaned on him.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Karen Johnson of Granite Falls; daughters, Nicole (Kevin) DeBoer of Marshall, Ann (Ryan) Schlenner, Holly Johnson-Labat of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Adrianna DeBoer, Tyus DeBoer, Deacon DeBoer, Gabriella Schlenner, Jocelyn Schlenner, Ahnya Schlenner, Magnus Schlenner, Harley Johnson-Labat, Shannon Labat, Tristan Labat; great grandson, Kingsley DeBoer; sisters, Lois Sumoski of Elgin, IL, Sharon (David) Cole of Granite Falls, Erma Corbitt of Snoqualmie, WA; brother-in-law, Ron Skrukrud of Olivia; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Lynn is preceded in death by parents, Erland and Nina Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley Sumoski, Richard Corbitt, Corrine Lothringer.
