LuVern Milton Mulenburg was born on May 4, 1933 to Martin and Amanda (Bergquist) Mulenburg in Granite Falls, MN. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1951 where he was active in sports. After graduation he joined the Navy. He served for 4 years during the Korean Conflict.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Thorsrud in 1954. They have five children: Bradley, Tom, Joan, Bill, and Kathy. He loved dearly his nine grandchildren, Brandon, Lena, Lindsay, Kailey, Michael, Tori, Joshua, Ryan, and Daniel. He was also blessed with 6 great-grandchildren, Joselyn, Dylan, Owen, Lola, Josiah, Azallia, and baby #7 is expected to be born around Vern’s birthday.
Vern owned and operated several local restaurants. He always enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. He also had a love for cars and enjoyed following all Minnesota sports teams.
Vern passed away at the Granite Falls Manor on March 9, 2015. He was 81 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, his children: Bradley of Granite Falls, MN; Tom of Phoenix, AZ; Joan of Peoria, AZ; Bill of Minneapolis, MN; and Kathy of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and two brothers John (Mae) of Glencoe, MN and Jerry (Judy) of Fairfield, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob, his two sisters Lois (Hildahl) and Margie (Zempel), and granddaughter Kailey Olson.
