Lucille Degrote

Lucille Kathryn DeGrote was born on October 1, 1911, in Crate Township, Chippewa County, MN, the daughter of George and Emma Klaassen. She was baptized on March 28, 1926 and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on April 7, 1931, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, MN. She attended country school through the 8th grade and was united in marriage to Harm S. DeGrote. Lucille enjoyed traveling, participating in church activities, garden club and card club. She also loved spending time with her family and was a faithful member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clara City, MN.In the evening hours of Thursday, March 31, 2011, while a resident of the Clara City Care Center, Lucille was called from this life. She was 99 years of age. Her surviving family include her daughters Idell (& Orville) Meints of Clara City, MN and Alva Mae Nelson of Montevideo, MN; her son Dennis (& Lorraine) DeGrote of Clara City, MN; one brother Ervin (& Delores) Klaassen of Clara City, MN; her sister Sylvia Clausen of Lakeview, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.Preceding Lucille in death were her parents; her husband Harm; her son Dale DeGrote; two brothers, Alvin Klaassen & Clarence Klaassen; an infant brother George Klaassen and a son-in-law Robert Nelson.
