Lorraine Hamre, age 84, of Granite Falls passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Avera Granite Falls Hospital in Granite Falls. A Memorial service will be Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church rural Granite Falls. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lorraine Mavis Hamre was born on September 5, 1938, in Hawk Creek Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Otis and Gladys (Berge) Hamre. She grew up in Hawk Creek Township where she was baptized in 1938 and confirmed in her faith in 1953 both at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church. Lorraine first attended District #41 country school before going to Sacred Heart public school and later Granite Falls where she graduated in 1957.
Lorraine lived and helped on the family farm for 30 years before buying and moving into a new home in Granite Falls in 1976. Through the years she also worked at Friendship Homes in Montevideo and Warner Manufacturing in Sacred Heart.
Lorraine enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing, hiking, biking, wood working, landscaping and gardening. She always had a cat for a companion, with her family fondly remembering, Patches, Tiger, aka P.T. and Hope.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters, Elaine (Richard) Fagen of Granite Falls, Rosemary (Terry) Hempel of Granite Falls; as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Gladys Hamre.
