Lorayne Berg

December 5, 1916 — January 1, 2001

Lorayne Vernice Morstad was born to Adolph and Clara Morstad on December 5, 1916 in Boyd, Minnesota. On Thursday morning, May 30, 2013, at the age of 96, Lorayne died at the Clarkfield Care Center. Lorayne was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd and graduated from Boyd High School in 1934. On August 9, 1936, Lorayne married Ernest Berg. They worked together in the Dry Cleaning business, owning and operating stores in Litchfield, Marshall and Montevideo. After their retirement, they purchased the Bourne Motel on Black Oak Avenue in Montevideo. She continued to live there until 2005 when she became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center. Music was an important part of Lorayne's life. She played the piano and organ for more than 70 years. She was an active volunteer at Luther Haven, sharing her music freely at the piano and with the residents? choir. She was a member of Trinity Free Church, the VFW Auxiliary , and Sons of Norway. Lorayne is survived by her sons: Bruce Berg of Starbuck and David Berg of Battle Lake, MN. 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lorayne was preceded in death by her husband Ernest in 1992 and 3 brothers, Arvid and Percy Morstad and Rudie Saltness. There will be a private memorial service later in the summer
