Lois Arlene Owens was born on April 19, 1936, in Yellow Medicine County, near Granite Falls, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith in the Congregational Church in Granite Falls and attended District 28 country school, Clarkfield Public school and graduated from Granite Falls High School.
Lois was united in marriage to Ronald C. Owens in Granite Falls in 1958 in the Congregational Church. She assisted her husband in their family business- Ron’s Family Drug, in Montevideo for many years and enjoyed decorating, doing crafts and planning social activities for family and friends. She was also part owner of Creative Crafts in Montevideo. Lois also worked at Langer’s and S & F Furniture in Willmar. She volunteered her time in many churches.
Lois loved listening to music and especially enjoyed attending several gospel music concerts by Bill and Gloria Gaither with her husband Ron. She volunteered her talents at the Safe Avenues Women’s Shelter located in Willmar, and will always be known for her generous, compassionate heart. Lois was the consummate homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who always looked forward to spending time with her entire family.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Lois was lovingly called from this life in the presence of her family at home in Brainerd while under hospice care. She was 78 years of age.
Surviving family include her husband Ron of Brainerd; her children- Julie (& Ben) Klebel of Waconia, Kelly (& Jerome) Fragodt of Montevideo, Scott (& Mary) Owens of Rosemount, and Patrick (& Patricia) Owens of Norwalk, IA; her grandchildren- Bobbi Jo (& Ben) Tushaus, Nick (& Stephanie) Vorvick, Traci Weckwerth, Kalei Owens, Ryan Owens, Marissa Owens, Julia Owens, Anthony Owens, Matthew Fragodt & Kari Jo Fragodt; great-grandchildren- Alex, Axton, Christopher, Benjamin, Landen, Maxx and Toni and one brother, Keith (Paulette) Day and one sister, Margaret Morland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson Jeremy Owens; her great-grandson Lucas Vorvick; five brothers Darwin Day, Donald Day, Dale Day, Gordon Day and Jerry Day; two sisters Delores Ellingboe and Mildred Odegard.
