Lois Lucille Dahlager was born February 17, 1932, the daughter of Edward and Edythe (Johnson) Beck in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in rural Kandiyohi and went to country school before attending Willmar High School where she graduated with the Class of 1950.
Lois was baptized at the Willmar Assembly of God Church and enjoyed participating in the church youth group activities. It was there that she met Gale Dahlager and fell in love. While Gale was on furlough from the military, Lois and Gale were married on May 29, 1956 at the Willmar Assembly of God Church. Though Gale returned to Seattle, Washington where he was stationed, Lois soon followed and they remained in Seattle until 1958 when they returned home. Together they began farming on the Dahlager family farm in rural Sacred Heart and were blessed with three daughters.
Lois was first a devout Christian, devoted and supportive wife and mother. She worked alongside her husband on the farm, whether it was organizing the rock picking and bean walking crews, or fixing the meals for those in the fields, she was giving her all. After her girls were grown, Lois and her friend decided to pursue a dream of owning a quilt shop and they opened the D & L Creations Shop.
Volunteering was a huge part of Lois’ life. She was an active member of her church and served the church family in many ways. Lois was a member of the Sacred Heart Injury Response Team and after moving to Granite Falls she joined the Lady Slipper Garden Club and served a year as their president. She also volunteered at the Granite Falls Living at Home Block Nursing Program. Lois and Gale were members of the Golden Grands exercise group where she enjoyed walking. They also enjoyed singing and were members of the Building Bridges Community Choir as well as their church sanctuary choir.
Lois enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and flower gardening. She had a beautiful spirit that radiated to those she met. Lois and Gale were a couple that people relied on, together their strength was felt in the community.
