Lloyd Leo Rasmussen was born July 30, 1923 in Maynard, Minnesota the son of George and Mary (Christianson) Rasmussen. He passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.Lloyd was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Maynard Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended school in Maynard, and obtained his GED through the Granite Falls High School.On May 14, 1944 Lloyd was united in marriage to Vivian Folkens in Granite Falls. To this union a daughter was born.Lloyd proudly served his country in WWII stationed in Germany as a member of the 94th Calvary Reconnaissance squadron. He received his honorable discharge on June 20, 1946.He returned to Granite Falls where he and Vivian began their family. He worked for the City of Granite Falls, Plews Manufacturing and Mooney's Construction.Lloyd was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving as usher, church representative for AAL investments, and secretary and treasurer of the cemetery board. He was also a member of the Granite Falls VFW and American Legion.He enjoyed hunting, playing dominoes with family, and was an avid fisherman. Lloyd especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandsons: Matthew, Jayson, and Ryan.Lloyd is survived by Vivian, his wife of 68 years; daughter: Terri (Fred) Tillma of Castlewood, South Dakota; grandsons: Matthew Tillma of Lawrence, Kansas; Jayson Tillma of Brookings, South Dakota; Ryan Tillma of Castlewood, South Dakota; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Bette Spangenberg of Montevideo; Marlue Folkens of Granite Falls; Ellie (Clifford) Marholz of Ortonville; brother-in-law: Jim (Phyllis) Folkens of Okeechobee, Florida.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and six sisters.
