Linda Ost, age 80, of Montevideo, Minnesota, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.
Linda Judith (Thronson) Ost was born on June 1, 1943 in Hendricks, Minnesota, the daughter of Thilman and Josephine (Magnuson) Thronson. She attended school in Canby, Minnesota and graduated from Canby High School. While in high school, she enjoyed playing drums in the band.
Linda was a dependable and very personable, outgoing lady. She was employed for several years by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and later in life worked as a clerk at County Market in Montevideo. Her endearing and charming personality allowed her to make friends with her fellow employees regardless of their age. She was known as “Granny” in the community and after retiring, moved into her home at 2110 McKinley. For over eight years, she enjoyed her independence and loved it when her “family” paid her visits. Her home became known as Granny’s Roadhouse.
In December of 2022, Granny experienced several serious medical issues, and after facing these issues courageously, she passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023 at the Clarkfield Care Center.
She is survived by her step-children, Lisa (Ost) Rader and Craig Ost and their families; nephew Brian Satre and niece Kristin Satre Anderson and their families; her daughter-in-law Cindy Thronson; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Jon Thronson, and her sister, Hildur (Satre) Brees.
