Lily Skotterud

Clara "Lily" Skotterud passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Valin Senior Care in Montevideo at the age of 97. Lily was born to Bernard & Gina Bredesen on February 18, 1916 in Renville County, Renville, Minnesota. She was baptized & confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, Minnesota. Lily attended & graduated from Renville Consolidated High School. After graduation, she practiced nursing at the Montevideo Hospital. On March 2, 1947, Lily was united in marriage to Reuben Skotterud who was farming in the Dawson area. They were married at the Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. To this union two sons were born: Ronald, June 1949 & Donald, March 1951. She was an active life member of the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Lily & Reuben farmed the family farm until they moved to Montevideo in September 1979. Lily is survived by her two sons, Ronald & Anita (Johnson) of Minneapolis, and Donald and Karla (Hagen) of Kansas City: two grandchildren Todd & (Stephanie) Skotterud and Lori & (Ryan) Sommers: four great grandchildren Aiden, Claire, Colin, & Kate: and one niece Marlys.She was preceded in death by Reuben in 1981, parents Bernard and Gina Bredesen, and her brother Kent .
