Lillie Fagen

Lillie Evelyn Fagen was born March 25, 1913, the daughter of Ole & Christine (Hedin) Haugen in Renville County, Wang Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Wang Lutheran Church. She went to country school District 141 and graduated from the Madison Normal School in 1932. Lillie was united in marriage to Holmes Fagen on July 3, 1935, at Wang Lutheran Church. Together they raised five children: Richard, Robert, Cynthia, Larry and Michael. Lillie was a lifelong member of Wang Lutheran Church. She worked at the Granite Falls Red Owl Store, the bakery, a restaurant and later at Plews. Lillie also ran a daycare for several families. She loved spending time with children and all her daycare families became a big part of her life, especially David & Sue Brokke and their children Jenny, Jill and Steven. Lillie passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Renvilla Care Center in Renville. She was 96 years of age. She is survived by her children: Richard (Elaine) Fagen of Granite Falls; Robert (Sandra) Fagen of Montevideo; Cynthia Fagen of Montevideo; Larry (Diane) Fagen of Sacred Heart and Michael (Phyllis) of Montevideo; 12 grand children; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and their families; sister in law Hilda Haugen of Granite Falls and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband and three siblings: Joe, Sylvia and Vernon.
