Lillian Jean Olson was born at home on February 1, 1936, in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. She was the fifth daughter of Edwin & Christine Olson. Lillian spent her childhood in Hanley Falls, was confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, and graduated from Hanley Falls High School. She was a shy, gentle girl, and always seemed very quiet, especially when she was with her four talkative sisters. But she loved her family life in Hanley Falls and cherished her parents and siblings.
After high school Lillian stayed at home with her parents, often helping neighborhood families with housekeeping tasks and sometimes taking care of children, especially her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed reading and watching westerns on TV, particularly Bonanza. On June 5, 1977, she married Martin Jensvold. Martin died after three years of marriage. Lillian married Robert Knox on July 14, 1982.
She eventually moved to Granite Falls, and then to the Manor, due to failing health. She was well cared for there, and made some new friends. She died peacefully on February 9, 2014.
Lillian was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Earl; three sisters, Helen Wilson, Donna Schmidt, and Maxine Reishus; three brothers-in-law, Curtis Wilson, Harvey Reishus, and John Olson. She is survived by sister Verna Olson of Minneapolis, brother Dr. Robert Olson (and Julie) of Faribault, and brother-in-law LeRoy Schmidt of Wood Lake, as well as 25 nieces and nephews.
