Lester Barnaal

Lester Duane Barnaal was born April 25, 1948 in Granite Falls, Minnesota the son of Melvin and Edith (Johnson) Barnaal. He passed away at his home in Sacred Heart on March 21, 2016. He grew up and attended school in the Sacred Heart area graduating from Sacred Heart High School. In 1977, Lester was united in marriage to Sharon Longcor in Renville at First Lutheran Church. They made their home in Sacred Heart where Lester worked at Warner’s Manufacturing. Lester was active with the Sacred Heart Jaycees, played softball, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known for his singing. Lester also enjoyed spending time with his family going on vacations, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson Brady. Lester is survived by his former wife, Sharon Barnaal of Granite Falls; children: Kathy Barnaal of Granite Falls; Earl (Donna) Barnaal of Hutchinson; grandchildren: Brady Barnaal, Craig Barnaal, Brandon Barnaal; great granddaughter: Sophia Barnaal; siblings: Dennis (Doris) Barnaal of Decorah, Iowa, Merle Barnaal of Eden Prairie, Lois Ryan of Atlanta, Georgia, and Marianne (Gary) Sundermeyer of St. Cloud; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Edith, and a sister-in-law: Bobbi Ann Barnaal.
