Leslie Oscar Wilson was born September 15, 1924 in Hazel Run Township, the son of Herbert and Maye Wilson. He passed away February 28, 2012 at the Clarkfield Care Center, Leslie was 87 years old. Les was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended country school in the Hazel Run area, before graduating from Clarkfield High School with the Class of 1942. Les proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II and received his honorable discharge in 1946. He returned home and attended the University of Minnesota for two years. On June 27, 1948 Les was united in marriage to Judith Saby at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born. They made their home near Hazel Run where Les farmed for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, South West Carvers, and Hazel Run Lutheran Church serving as church trustee. Les enjoyed wood carving, golfing and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Les is survived by his wife Judy of Clarkfield; children: Steve (Mary) Wilson of Canton, South Dakota; Cheryl Lee Monnich of Salt Lake City, Utah; David (Dana) Wilson of Clarkfield; Mary (Joe Irvin) Wilson of Saugerties, New York; grandchildren: Michelle (Brian) Prestholdt, Cathy Wilson, Danielle (Brian) Meyer, Lukas (Jessica) Wilson, Kinsey Irvin, Kenan Irvin, Derek (Megan) Schultz, Dustin (JoAnna) Schultz, Cody Werner; great grandchildren: Braden, Garett, Brielle, Allie, Jacob, Andrew, Conrad, Grady, Addyson; sister: Lila Lynne of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Maye; brothers: Oliver in infancy, Curtis, Donald, and Herbert Wilson; and nieces: Janet Westre and Heidi LaBatte.
