LeRoy Curtis Jacobson was born on May 21, 1928 in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Henry O. and Emma J. (Larson) Jacobson. He passed away November 27, 2014 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church, growing up and attending school in the Clarkfield area. LeRoy served his country in the United States Army receiving his honorable discharge in 1952. On August 22, 1953 LeRoy was united in marriage to Alfrieda Freiwald at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Big Stone City, South Dakota. LeRoy worked at the Clarkfield and Granite Falls Creamery until 1960. He then went to work at Henry’s Candy Company as a sales man for 30 years, retiring in 1990. In his retirement years, he was employed by the Granite Falls Golf Pro Shop and later delivered medication for Granite Drug Stores and Thrifty White Drug Store, and served as a jury attendant for Yellow Medicine County District Court. “Jake”, as he was known by his family and friends, was an active member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church and the Granite Falls American Legion, serving as a past commander, Chaplin, and assisting the Honor Guard Drill Team. He will be missed by his family and many friends in the community who loved his smile and happy personality.L eRoy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alfrieda Jacobson of Granite Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Emma Jacobson; sisters: Amy Lines, Evelyn Kipley, brother: James Jacobson.
