Leonard John Worsech was born on July 4, 1919, in Bechyn, MN, the son of John and Myrtle Worsech. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school in Wegdahl, MN. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1939. Len proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army, entering in March of 1942. He initially qualified as a rifle marksman in the infantry, but was eventually re-assigned as a cook. Upon his honorable discharge in Jan. of 1946, Len returned home and was united in marriage to Lorraine Wiest in Canby, MN, on January 11, 1948. They made their home along Hwy 212 between Montevideo and Granite Falls where Len pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a night club/restaurant owner. He built, owned and operated Len's Steak House along the Minnesota River near Wegdahl. His reputation for excellent, personable service and great food was well known in the area. His sense of humor and gentle, generous personality gained him many loyal patrons and friends. Len also started and operated a Porta-Potti and septic cleaning business which his son Chip eventually took over. Len & Lorraine were members of Granite Falls Lutheran Church and supported community activities in both communities of Montevideo and Granite Falls.For these past several years, due to his failing health, Len was a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home. He was called peacefully from this life while at Luther Haven on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the age of 92 years.Len is survived by his wife Lorraine of Montevideo, MN; his children- Robin "Chip" (& Janet) Worsech of Montevideo, MN and Penny Worsech also of Montevideo, MN; grandchildren- Annie & Stacy;great granddaughter- Maya; sister Arlyne Morgan of Willmar and brother John (Jr) of Montevideo. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers- Charlie & Marvin and two sisters- Lucille Morgan & Mildred Sticklestad.
