Leonard Hagemeyer

Leonard Hagemeyer was born August 27, 1924, the son of John and Mamie Hagemeyer, in Crate Township, Chippewa County. He was baptized on September 21, 1924, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 7, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Leonard grew up in the Clara City area and served his country in the United States Army. He was deployed overseas and was honorably discharged in November of 1946.Leonard was united in marriage to Henrietta Grussing on February 22, 1949. Together they farmed north west of Clara City until retiring in 1988 and they moved to town. Leonard was a member of the Clara City American Legion. Leonard passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. He was 85 years of age.He is survived by his wife Henrietta; son Doug (Kim) Hagemeyer of Willmar; two grandsons: Scott of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ryan of Moorhead; brother George (Louise) Hagemeyer of Clara City; sister Gracie Negen of Clara City and a sister-in-law Eleanor Hagemeyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Carl and Louie.
