Leonard Charles Freese was born near Clara City, Minnesota on Sunday, March 2, 1941 to Jake and Tillie Freese. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Bethany Reformed Church and graduated with high honors from Raymond High School in 1959.
On December 15, 1994, Leonard exchanged marriage vows with JoAnne June Tebben at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.
During his working career, Leonard worked at various jobs including heavy equipment, Parkview Ford, tending bar, Paragon Farms, and Willmar Poultry.
He loved his horse, and in his leisure time, he loved working with the 4-H horse program and the animals that he raised, playing Santa astride his horse and bowling. Above all, his favorite times were those spent with his great grandchildren.
Due to failing health, on June 13th, Leonard was admitted to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. On Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the age of 73, he lost his battle with cancer.
Surviving family include his wife JoAnne and their families: Brad & Judy Lee, Curtis & Debbie Lee, Ralph & Debra Lee, Randy Ruter, Ricky Ruter and Michelle Freese; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his brother Stanley & Marilyn Freese, and several nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Tillie and 2 grandchildren.
