Leona Mae Skogrand was born on May 5, 1927, to Willie Kittelson and Della (Christenson) Kittelson at their home. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.
She married L. Paul Skogrand on March 3, 1945. They lived briefly at a nearby farm before moving to the "Skogrand place " where she spent essentially the rest of her life. Leona and Paul had four children, Linda ( married to Steven Gilbertson), Rick ( married to Pam Lamirande), Bruce ( married to Jo Ann ), and Kristen Smit. One of her greatest joys in life were her 11 grandchildren; they include Sara, Jennifer, Aaron, Adam, Andy, Ali, Charity, Stacey, Christy, Christopher, Paige, and eleven great grandchildren; Alexis, Abby, Adric, Braigh, Roran, Madelyn, William, Lily, Malcom, Milo and Olive. She is survived by 2 sisters; Grace and Gloria Christenson.
She loved being outdoors and the activities of gardening, farming, of course mowing lawn.
Leona was on various Jevnaker Church committees and was life long member. Paulie and Leona were 4-H leaders and she was especially proud of her status as a master gardener. In her later years she was seen at various senior centers but her favorite was the one in Watson where her bars and homemade bread were legendary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paulie, a brother Leland, a sister Delores, and a grandson Justin.
Leona loved her grandchildren and time spent with them was never wasted. She enjoyed writing notes and letters to her best friends and people she'd only met once or twice. Christmas was her favorite holiday with endless decorations and multiple Christmas trees.
" Turn to a garden for wonder and delight. In the garden you're closer to God than any place".
