IN LIEU OF FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS, THE FAMILY RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS MEMORIALS BE DIRECTED TO PRAIRIE HOSPICE, MARSHALL, MN

Leona C. Enninga was born on July 8, 1926 in Fulda MN; daughter of William and Clara (Horn) Koopman. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fulda, and graduated from Fulda High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Fred Enninga on May 1, 1947 in Fulda.
Leona and Fred did everything in life together, including dairy farming, owned and operated a motel, a greenhouse and floral shop, livestock feed service, weaved and sold floor mats made from old tires, and traveled the country with their donut trailer, selling mini donuts.
She loved her family very much and somehow always remembered to send a card for birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special occasion, almost up to the day she passed. She loved crocheting for family and friends, and made hundreds of wool skull caps that were sent over to our troops in Afghanistan. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends from Henry Hill and the Senior Center. She loved gardening indoors and outdoors; she could make anything grow. She was a long time member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and LWML, church choir and quilting club and played organ for church when someone was needed.
Leona died peacefully, with family at her side, at the Clara City Care Center on August 1, 2016 at the age of 90 years.
She is survived by her sons Roland (and Carla Belle) of Sturgis SD, Leonard (and Linda) of Sturgis SD, and Daniel (and Kathy) of Granite Falls; brother Lon (Maynard) Koopman (and Ellie) of Edina, brother in law Jim (and Harriet) of Big Lake; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, brother Earl Koopman, grandson Jason Bouvette and a stillborn great grandson Enninga.
