Leon Luvern Moe was born April 5, 1936, the son of Kenneth & Wilma (Engel) Moe in Montevideo. He was baptized on July 12, 1936, at Echo Methodist Church and confirmed his faith on October 11, 1958, at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. He attended District 8 and graduated from the Echo High School in 1954.
Leon served his country in the Navy Reserves in 1954 and served active duty from 1955 to 1957, stationed on the Coral Sea Carrier. He was honorably discharged from the Navy Reserves in 1962.
Leon was united in marriage to Marlene Marilyn Kissner on November 9, 1957, at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. He was employed in 1962, as a machinist and welder and eventually moved to Quality Control for Rodgers Hydraulic in Granite Falls. Leon retired in 1998. He was a member of the Granite Falls American Legion, Rescue Squad in the 1960’s, and church secretary. He enjoyed hunting with his family, ATV, snowmobiling and volunteered at Mt. Vista Hospital for 5 years.
Leon passed away at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls on August 1, 2020. He was 84 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Marlene, daughters: Kathryn (Pat) Thompson of Annandale and Kristine (Brian) Lingle of Spicer, son Mark (Nancy) Moe of White Bear Lake; grandchildren: Noah Thompson, Nicole (Tim) Stahl, Cari Lingle, Curt (Jasmine) Lingle, Angelica Moe and Sheena Moe; great grandchildren: Bennett Lingle and Tanner Stahl; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother George E. Moe.
A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, August 3rd with Pastor Dennis Schultz officiating and the Granite Falls American Legion and Granite Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars preforming military honors.
