Leola Knutson

Leola Beverly Knutson was born April 13, 1929, the daughter of Leonard & Frieda (Pehling) Johnson, in Echo, Minnesota. She was baptized on May 12, 1929 at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo and confirmed there on April 18, 1943. Leola graduated from the Echo High School. Leola was united in marriage to Virgil Knutson on October 29, 1949, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. She was employed at Plews for 23 years, retiring in 1991. Leola was a member of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved flowers, bird watching, word puzzles and was an avid sports fan. Leola passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at her residence in Granite Falls. She was 83 years of age. She is survived by her children: Gloria (Bob) Connor of Hopkins; Susan (Doug) Mayer of Mankato; Timothy, Alan & Stan (Kim) Knutson all of Granite Falls; and Brian (Cathy) Knutson of Lakeville; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her sister Millicent (Ray) Schultz of Belview; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant son Daniel.
