Leo Duis

Leo Francis Duis was born on Oct. 8, 1915, in Linwood, NE, the son of George and Lena Duis. He was baptized, confirmed and made his first Holy Communion in the Catholic faith. On April 8, 1947, Leo was united in marriage to Audrey Panek in Hector, MN. Leo worked as a farmer and at a number of other jobs. His most recent employment was with the City of Granite Falls. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. In the early morning hours of Monday, October 6, 2008, Leo was peacefully called from this life at the Granite Falls Manor, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 92 years of age. He is survived by his children- Duane (& Janet), David, Steve (& Shelly), Andrew (& Lee Ann), Curt (& Jeanette), Ricky (& Brenda) and Cheryl (& Pat); one brother- Donald (& Joan) Duis of Canby, MN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife (in 1987); 3 sons- James, Mike & Larry and a brother Francis.
