Lavine C. Bertrand

Lavine C. Bertrand was born on September 27, 1927, in Waite Park, MN, the daughter of Clarence and Francis (Meyer) Bidinger. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from high school in Morton, MN. On September 24, 1955, she was united in marriage to Leo Bertrand in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Four children were born to this union- Terrance, Anne Marie, Timothy and Mary Lee.
Lavine was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being involved in all types of family celebrations and loved traveling with her family. Above all, Lavine was a warm and loving homemaker. Her numerous occupations included being a professional seamstress and retail clerk. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, reading, traveling and singing.
Lavine possessed a deep faith and prayed daily for her intentions and the needs of others. She was especially devoted to the St. Jude Foundation.
On Monday, January 19, 2015, Lavine was called peacefully to her Lord, while a resident of Prairie Senior Cottages in Willmar. She was 87 years of age.
Surviving family include her children- Terrance Bertrand of Prescott, AZ; Anne Marie (& Larry) Halvorson of Montevideo, Timothy (& Merrie) Bertrand of Montevideo, and Mary Lee (& Peter) Thomas of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren- Thomas, Gage (& Justine), Amanda, Melissa and Stacy (& Paul); 2 great grandchildren- Madeline and Olivia; her brother- R.J. (& Doddie) Bidinger; 2 sisters-in-law Alice Turner & Sister Margareta Bertrand; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo; 1 sister; 3 brothers and her special friend- Caroll Ockwig.
