Laurine Maxine Judd, age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the Granite Falls Care Center in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
Laurine was born on September 22, 1928, the daughter of Lloyd and Hazel (Smith) Schmidt in Staples, Minnesota. She grew up in Staples, Minnesota and attended the public school there.
When Laurine was younger she worked as a waitress. She moved to Washington for a few years. Laurine was blessed with 8 children, Lloyd, Clifford, Gaylord, Mark, Fred, Dan, David, and Marcy and she loved being a Mom. While the children were growing up, she was able to stay at home and care for them.
In 1963, Laurine and her family moved back to Staples and she began working at the USPS as a postal carrier. She was also a teacher’s assistant for a time. In 1998, Laurine moved to Granite Falls to be near family and she often wintered in Oklahoma.
Laurine enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and basically all things crafty! She loved to travel and would take her grandchildren and great grandchildren on personal “special trips” such as a train ride to other states. These trips are treasured memories!
Laurine is survived by her children, Lloyd Judd of Staples, Fred (Sheila) Judd of Alexandria, Dan Judd of Wood Lake, Marcy Judd of Granite Falls; daughters-in-law, Kathie Judd of Staples, Debi Judd of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Sheila, Brandy, Jason, Aaron, Jeremy, Mark, Stephanie, Ryan, Heather, Scott, Kalee, Sam, Todd, Chris, Katie, Mellissa, Charlotte, Alexandra; 46 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends.
Laurine was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel and step-father, Clement; father, Lloyd; sons, Clifford, Gaylord, infant Mark, infant David; great grandson; two brothers and one sister.
