Larry Dirksen

Larry George Dirksen was born December 7, 1946 in Montevideo to George and Grace Dirksen. He was baptized May 1947 at the Bethany Reformed Church of Clara City. He attended country school and graduated from Maynard in 1964. He was in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969. On July 26, 1969 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Lee at the Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church by Reverend Trelstad. He farmed east of Montevideo for 49 years. Larry enjoyed family gatherings, "visiting" with neighbors, trips to warmer climates, coffee at the shop with the men and especially farming. He would drive around and check the crops every night. He is survived by his wife, Becky of Montevideo; children: Daniel (Jennifer) Dirksen of Montevideo; Lori (Scott) Williams of Montevideo. 5 grandchildren: Ashley and Dylan Dirksen, Jacob Knapper, Avery and Andrew Williams. Larry was preceded in death by his parents George in 1999 and Grace in 1997. Larry passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 Rice memorial Hospital at the age of 66. He had spent the day on the lake with his kids and grandchildren.
