Kent Sunderland, 57, of Montevideo passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo following a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Maynard Event Center from 2 to 4 pm.
Kent Vernon Sunderland was born August 22, 1964, the son of Dale and Katherine (Schmaedeka) Sunderland in Montevideo.
He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.
Kent attended Maynard High School and Willmar Vocational Technical Institute. He worked several years at Martin Marietta Aggregates in Granite Falls. Kent had several hobbies, restoring vehicles and welding lawn ornaments and crosses out of horseshoes. He loved to visit and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
On August 28, 1993, Kent was united in marriage to Imogene Odegard and made their home on a farm NE of Montevideo. On September 15, 2016, Imogene passed away.
Kent was united in marriage to Robin Ridens Anderson on July 28, 2018. They enjoyed working together remodeling their home and completed several projects. On February 1, 2021, Robin passed away.
He is survived by his siblings, Steven (Lynell) Sunderland, Bradley (Mary) Sunderland, Russell (Cheryl) Sunderland, LuAnn (Lonnie) Hansen, and LaNae Sunderland (John Bendickson). Stepchildren, Karla Torke, Brenda Karston, Braxton Anderson, Nicholas Anderson and Brianna Anderson.
Also, numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Imogene, wife Robin and stepdaughter Alita Torke.
