Kent Hubert, age 65, of Granite Falls, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at CCM Health in Montevideo, Minnesota. A private Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Kent Dean Hubert was born on March 2, 1956, in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of Morris and Betty (Sunvold) Hubert. Kent grew up and also attended school in Granite Falls graduating with the Class of 1974. He loved the Granite Falls community and accomplished his dream to never leave.
Kent drove garbage truck for over 30 years with the Olson Sanitation and also briefly with the West Central Sanitation out of Willmar, Minnesota. Even after his recent stroke, he went back to work. Kent loved to work and being idle was not his thing. He loved watching the Vikings and Minnesota Gopher football games, but if his favorite teams were losing, he would say, “it’s too nice outside to stay in here.” Kent enjoyed working in his yard and lawn. He was a great guy and would help anyone that needed it, it was this willingness to help that started his 20 year relationship with Shelly Runia.
Kent is survived by his life partner, Shelly Runia of Granite Falls; sons, Ketin (girlfriend, Mckenzie Groothuis) Houle of Montevideo, Dustin (Alexis) Baker of Dawson; grandchildren, Alana Engstrom of Watertown, BrinLeigh Houle of Montevideo, Dagur Engstrom of Watertown, Brantley Baker of Dawson, Briggs Baker of Dawson; siblings, Vickie Duis of Richfield, Julie (Roger) Brovold of Woodbury, Robert (life partner, Barb Reinke) Hubert of Granite Falls, Rosie Hubert-Falla of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Sherilyn Hubert of Minneapolis; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Kent is preceded in death by parents, Morris and Betty Hubert; brothers, Bradley, Stephen and Timothy.
